Hello Metalheads from Remain Untamed how are you doing?
– We are doing fine, thank you
Please tell us something about your hometown?
– Although we stated being from Haarlem, only our bassplayer still lives there. We have some nice venues here like the Patronaat and the Slachthuis where a lot of Metal, punk and hardcore bands play frequently.
How is the metal scene in your area?
– We have some nice young Thrashmetal bands like Obstructor and Silent Violence. We got Spacewind which are more old school metal/hardrock with a touch of Hawkwind. We share our rehearselplace with bands like Flying Embrios and None Shall Fall. And more to the north we have bands like Hallowed Fire, Mutator and Chaos Unleashed.
It must be really a big shock for the band when you guys heard about Hans Boekraad (Hans Hostile) being really ill and died last year, only 45 years old, leaving family, friends and fans in the metal scene behind?
– Yes, you can say that it was a big shock for the band. In the years we played together we all became really close friends, also with his family. We were having great BBQ parties at his house with great conversations about music and life which he loved both dearly. In november the year before he died he went to the doctor after having some complaints for quiet a while. Little did we know it was to late to be cured and that he had so little time left. We still miss him as our musical partner and mostly as a friend.
Why the band decide to not call out for a new guitarist?
– At first we weren’t ready for it allthough Hans already said to go on and find a replacement for him. After a few months we were ready and we did have a new guitarist but after a couple of months and gig it didn’t work with him. After that we decided to go on as a fourpiece untill we were ready again. At the moment we are looking for new guitarist
How you guys find the strength to carry on, writing new material?
– As said before Hans told us to carry on with te band and we are to close together and love to much with what we are doing so that is our strenght to carry on. Our love for our music, band and Hans. And we still have a great songwriter in Patrick with lots of ideas for new material.

The band released nearly 2 month ago a new EP called; Pharmaceutical Madness. Please tell us about the writing process, time in the studio and how the fans and press received the new EP?
-The new EP is our tribute to Hans. It featured the last song he wrote for us, Pharmaceutical Madness. Which we think is one of his best songs he ever wrote for us. Blind Justice and Propaganda were both written by Patrick and were allready played live with Hans. Cesspool is the newest song, written after Hans passed away, which we thought was too good to let it wait till the new album. The albumcloser is Slave of the Suit, a cover of Hans his old band T.C.F. Both his former bandmates contributed to the song and also Adam, the son of Hans did backingvocals on it. We recorded the EP at Headville Studios with Noel van Eersel. He is also know as drummer of Lovell’s Blade, Nembrionic and the Judas Priest tributeband Painkiller. It is a nice little studio and we clicked right from the start with Noel. He has done a great job to get the best out of us and knew how to let us sound brute and fresh but also clear so you can hear everything. The reactions so far are great, the fans love it and the press talked about the progression we made from our last EP as a band and songwriting. Also about the fantastic productionjob Noel did.
Any chance we will get a full length album from the band, sometime?
– That is our next goal. We allready have completed some new songs musically, busy with completing some others and allready having ideas for some in the waiting.
How did you get in contact with Noel van Eersel, who did a remarkable job, mixing the new EP?
– I knew Noel allready from the old days and heard some things he did in his studio. The producer from our first 2 EP’s did also a great job but we wanted to try something fresh. Right from the start as we entered his his studio we knew we made right choice. Noel sure did a remarkable job and we are very pleased with it.
Also the artwork is really done well. Mario Lopez did a really good job for you guys?
– Mario Lopez really did a good job for us. He allready did the artwork for Hans his old band T.C.F.. That is why Hans asked him to do the artwork for our last EP New World Order. Hans had a great idea for the artwork and Mario did made a great albumcover of it. After Hans died and we deciced to make this new EP, we contacted Mario if he would like to make the new artwork for it which he was more than willing to do. Ernst, our bassplayer had a great idea about the artwork and Mario made this amazing cover. In the artwork you can see elements of our first 2 EP’s and also of all the songs on the album. Just like the old albums Powerslave and Somewhere in Time of Iron Maiden where you can find all kinds of things if you look closely.
Any live shows in the near future?
