Hello Glenn Rogers, how are you doing? Im doing well, getting a little older but still keeping the Metal alive. Also I got to see my daughter Gwen graduate high school. So that was a proud moment for me. Some time ago you and the guys in Primal went to Argentina, please tell us about this trip? Argentina is a second home for us because our singer Alberto Zamarbide and drummer Jorge Iacobellis are from there. They were there in the beginning days of Heavy Metal. We played 8 shows total on 2 trips. The fans are really great. We got to really spend time with them and see the country as well. Every show was full of fans who seem excited to see us. What is the difference between the USA/EU/ South American metal fans? It’s more exciting to play in Europe and South America. The fans will come out to the shows and seem to like the live experience. In the USA it’s hard to get the fans to come out unless you are a tribute band. There are great fans in the USA but they tend to only come out for the big acts like Iron Maiden or Metallica. But I hope we can win them back. How did the band form and how someone came up with the name Primal? The band came about when our drummer Jorge and singer Alberto (Beto) decided to team up. The first lineup started before I got invited to join. They wanted some songwriting so that’s when Jorge called me up. The name Primal was Alberto’s idea. He wanted to bring the music back to the roots. Make it Primal. Please tell us about Iron Age, that was released Some time Ago. The Writing process, time in the studio, how the album was received by press and fans? Iron Age was my idea. We just finished the tour for our last album Humachine. It’s been out for two years. So I thought we needed something to fill in the gap between our next album. So what we did was create an EP with some songs I had recorded. I didn’t want to release a 2 song single because I learned a lesson the last time I tried that. We also recorded a Spanish version of the song End Times from the Humachine record that was never released outside of Argentina. We then added some songs from the first album that we play in our live set. We did that for the fans who don’t have our first album. So in a nut shell it’s a new single filled with some tracks to introduce the band to new fans. That’s why we did a digi- pack to keep the price low. There is the last song; it’s called; Cantivos Del Sistema. Where is the song about and how did you get in contact with Mister Rudy Sarzo to play with this song? The English translation roughly is Captives Of The System. It’s a cover from Aleberto’s first band V8. So I believe it’s about life in Argentina during the time of the dictatorship. It’s a fan favorite in Argentina. How we got Rudy is because he and Alberto (Beto) are friends. Rudy is also a producer. He worked with Beto on a couple albums when Beto was in his band called Logos. So when we recorded the first album we did some tracks in North Hollywood area. Not far from where Rudy lives. Just a phone call away. What happened with Final Decree? We this is what happened. When we started recording our debut record our singer Sammy D John was asked to reform his band Ruthless by a new record company. The deal was too good to pass up so that’s what he decided to do. That left me in a mess. All the music was recorded and now I had no singer. At that time Primal was not a working band. So Jorge my drummer and I thought about what if we ask Beto to come back and record the songs already done? But we could not call it Final Decree. It was now Primal. So what we did is pivot away from Final Decree and re vamped Primal. So really this line-up of Primal is Final Decree with Beto as our singer. Album that became Primals Humachine started as the Final Decree debut. Are you still involved in other bands or projects? Well Final Decree is my solo band and I do plan to revisit it soon. I am no longer in Deliverance, but Jimmy and I are still good friends and may work together again. We will see what the future holds. What are Some of your favorite bands, when you started in the Music in the 80’s and now Anno 2025? My first inspiration is The Beatles and then Iron Maiden. I love TNWOBHM of the 80’s. Saxon, Priest, Motorhead are among my favorites. New Metal not Nu Metal bands Wolf is probably my favorite. What are you doing, when you are not playing Music. Work, family, hobby’s? I’m a dad of now an 18 year old. We like to go to comic book conventions and are big movie fans. Lately me nad my wife are going to a lot of Classical Music concerts and bowling. When you look to the world nowedays what are your thoughts about it and does it has any impact on you to write lyrics? We need God in our lives. And yes the lyrics have a message of life and warning of what’s to come if we don’t change. We all need to remember we all have family’s and are trying to live a good life. So maybe a little God or Jesus in your life would help. Do you have a last word to the readers of Bonavox? I want to Thank the fans who took the time to read this also Thanks for supporting us artist we do this for the love of it not money. I haven’t made any LOL
