Hello Mister Leatherby, how are you doing?

Fantastic!  Just started the European tour.  The new album has been received well, so far.

The band is coming from Ventura, California. Please tell us something about the city and tell us about the metal scene in your erea..?

The city is a nice quiet place where the mountains meet the ocean in Southern California.  There is not much of a metal scene there, but we have created one with our festival Frost and Fire.  Aside from Night Demon and Cirith Ungol, it is mainly a hardcore/ punk town.

Please tell us briefly how the band got started?

Three great friends that had a great love for NWOBHM.  We understood the music well, and finally got together to create the best band we could.

In 2015 the band released it’s first full lengh album, “Curse of the Damned”. Please tell us how this album was received by the press?

It was received so well that it blew us away and we toured on it for the batter part of 2 ½ years.  There was a lot of pressure to follow it up, but we feel good about the new album and think we have succeeded in this.

After the first album, things really went quick for you guys.. Playing shows with; Diamond Head, Raven, Crowbar and even Carcass and playing a big festival in Germany, Bang your Head festival en touring through South and Central America etc. A lot of bands are trying hard, sometimes are busy for tens of years and do not get this what you guys did in a few years… Please tell us about this great start and playing with these bands and playing Bang Your Head etc..?

Well we do this band full time and are always looking for new opportunities.  We spend m,ost of our time touring, and thinking of new ways to do things.  We have completely dedicated ourselves to this, and have made ourselves available to do all of it.  We work harder than most bands and most of these opportunities are not just handed to us.

You are a 3 piece band a trio, reminds me of Kings X, are you playing like them also live, with the 3 of you or are you taking some extra folks with you on tour…?

Thanks for this compliment.  I personally love King’s X.  Yes, we have a crew of three guys that we take on tour.  Lighting, sound, and merchandise seller.  The band makes it rock, and the roadies make it roll!

I just read that you are coming back to Europe and playing about 23 shows overhere. Please tell us something about it and are you guys prepared to meet the metal-heads in Europe again..?

Actually we are playing around thirty shows on the first leg, and 20+ shows on the second leg in the summer.  We are always excited to be in Europe.  It’s our largest fan base in the world, and they really appreciate the high energy live shows that we deliver.

On April 21 this year, the new album will be released via SPV/Steamhammer. Please tell us how you got signed with this old heavy metal record label from Germany? And tell us about the preperations of the new album that will be called; Darkness Remains… Writing Process, time in the studio etc…?

Steamhammer approached us in late 2013 after hearing our debut EP.  The relationship with them has been really great.  They are fans first and foremost, and seem to honor the vision of the band and not get in the way of the creativity.

We spent quite a while writing the new album, as touring definitely got in the way.  It’s very difficult to write songs on the road, so we really had to focus on that during our short breaks at home.

What are some of your own favorite bands/artists?

Angel Witch, Diamond Head, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Savage Master, Visigoth, Cirith Ungol, Jaguar, High Spirits.

Any last word, or something that’s on your heart to share with the readers of Bonavox.nl ?

Follow your dreams people and try to be the best at what you do.  The world is yours for the taking.
