Jason Mackenroth, Former Rollins Band Drummer, Dies at 46 AtV January 20, 2016 News Jason Mackenroth, who played drums for Rollins Band from 1998 to 2004, died on Sunday after a nearly four-year battle with prostate cancer. He was 46. Following his tenure with the Rollins Band, Mackenroth released two solo albums and spent eight years playing as a band musician with the Blue Man Group’s Las Vegas production. Born in Sacramento, California on May 9, 1969, Mackenroth first caught the attention of Henry Rollins in 1989 while playing with a power pop trio called Mother Superior. Rollins produced two of the group’s albums and eventually asked Mackenroth and his bandmates to join him in Rollins Band. Over his six years with Rollins Band, Mackenroth performed on seven albums and four world tours. Mackenroth died at his home in Henderson, Nev. He is survived by his wife Janet (“Jaye”) Mackenroth and their two sons. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help his family. Plans are also in the works for a benefit concert to take place later this year. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at Epic Church in Las Vegas.
