A Day To Remember wins $4 million verdict against Victory Recs Asher November 24, 2016 News Following a two-week trial, yesterday a federal jury in Illinois ultimately sided with Florida band A Day To Remember in their record contract dispute with Victory Records. According to a report at Law360, the jury found that ADTR had fulfilled their 2006 recording contract with the label and awarded the band $4 million in “withheld proceeds from music and merchandise sales.” Neither band nor label has commented on the verdict, though we suspect that an appeal will be forthcoming. The five-year legal tug of war officially commenced in 2011 when A Day To Remember filed a lawsuit against Victory for breach of contract. UPDATE: A Day To Remember has now commented on the matter, issuing the following statement this evening: “As many of you know, more than 5 years ago we filed a lawsuit against Victory Records seeking freedom and resolution on several issues we had with them. For the past 2 weeks we have been in court arguing our case. Yesterday, the jury came back with a unanimous verdict in the trial granting us that freedom and resolution. Thank you to the fan base for supporting us through this difficult time, we couldn’t have done this without you. This isn’t just a victory for us but also a victory for every band wronged over the years. Right doesn’t always win, but yesterday it did.”
